Carnival Cruise Line has published its complete shipyard calendar for 2026 and 2027, outlining an extensive round of maintenance, upgrades, and cosmetic refreshes across the fleet. With several ships spending weeks—or over a month—out of service, guests with upcoming reservations should verify their travel dates as plans continue to take shape.
The schedule spans traditional dry docks, wet docks, and longer modernization periods, with work stretching across high-demand seasons in both years.
Carnival's 2026 shipyard calendar runs from January through November, ranging from brief tune-ups to extended renovation windows.

What Happens During Dry Dock?
Dry docks go far beyond routine inspections—they're comprehensive maintenance periods that keep ships operating safely and feeling fresh. Most shipyard visits include:
Mechanical and technical work — hull inspections, propulsion checks, steel repairs
Safety system updates — lifeboat and fire-suppression servicing
Cosmetic enhancements — new carpets, updated lighting, fresh tile, refinished public spaces
Cabin improvements — refreshed décor, additional outlets, updated finishes
Depending on a ship's age, Carnival may also add or modernize dining venues and bars, reconfigure spaces for better guest flow, or update theming to match newer fleet styling. Even ships receiving only standard maintenance often return looking noticeably cleaner and more modern.
Ships Not on the 2026–2027 Schedule
Several Carnival vessels don't appear on the newly released calendar—some because they recently completed shipyard work, others because dates haven't been announced yet.
No scheduled dry dock:
Carnival Firenze
Carnival Venezia
Carnival Jubilee (one of the newest ships in the fleet)
Recently updated (not on new schedule):
Carnival Liberty — May–July 2025
Carnival Miracle — May 2025
Carnival Sunshine — Early 2025
Carnival Panorama — September–October 2024
Carnival Spirit — January–March 2025
Carnival Valor — May–June 2025
Mardi Gras — Late 2025
Additional dates may be released later, particularly for ships approaching their required maintenance intervals.
